Congratulations! You have gotten to the stage of your Deseret Industries associate experience where you are ready to start searching for a job. This is a big step in your career, and it is so exciting!
Job searching can be intimidating and overwhelming at first, but Deseret Industries has many resources available to help you build the skills you need to be a successful job seeker, including the Job Search Skills Workshop, the Active Job Search program, and 1-on-1 coaching.
Another session of the Job Search Skills Workshop will be offered to DI associates in a live, remote session conducted by Employment Services missionaries.
Please note: If an in-person JSSW is offered at your location, associates should be encouraged to attend that meeting. The remote session is being offered as an additional option where in-person sessions are not available.
Sessions will be held on Thursdays at 10:30 am Mountain.
The first of the 6 sessions will go 15-minutes longer.
- Each session will run for 6 weeks, then repeat.
- Development Counselors or Operations Supervisors register associates to participate in the remote JSSW by clicking here. (Note: you will need to know the email address of the associate).
- Once an associate is registered, a Zoom link will be emailed to the associate. The link to join the meeting will also be posted to the For Associates section of the Development Counseling website.
- Associates can join individually using a computer with a webcam, speaker, and microphone. Alternatively, a training room may be set up in the DI where associates can join as a group from the same location.
- Each participant will need to have the JSSW participant workbook:

Tips for Online Meetings
Consider the following tips as you connect for an online meeting:
-
You will need to use a cell phone or a computer that has a camera and microphone. Test your camera and microphone before you join to minimize technical issues.
-
Typically, everyone participating can see each other, so sit in a spot where there are few distractions.
-
You will need to use a microphone to speak, so make sure you’re in a quiet place. Consider using headphones that have an attached microphone.
-
Make sure you have enough light so other participants can see your face.
-
In your job search you want to be punctual to meetings, so be sure to join the meeting on time.
