DI Associate Job Search Support

Congratulations! You have gotten to the stage of your Deseret Industries associate experience where you are ready to start searching for a job. This is a big step in your career, and it is so exciting!

Job searching can be intimidating and overwhelming at first, but Deseret Industries has many resources available to help you build the skills you need to be a successful job seeker, including the Job Search Skills Workshop, the Active Job Search program, and 1-on-1 coaching.

Job Search Skills Workshop

The Job Search Skills Workshop is a 6-week program that will help you build the skills you need to successfully find a job. All DI associates are encouraged to attend a Job Search Skills workshop either in person at their DI location or remotely. Beginning in April 2022, the Job Search Skills Workshop will be offered to DI associates in a live, remote session conducted by Employment Services missionaries. This is a great option for DI associates who don’t have an in-person session available to them at their DI location.

Click on the link below to join the web conference at the indicated time. Meetings occur on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. MT, and each session runs for 6 weeks.

1-on-1 Coaching

Personalized, one-on-one coaching from an employment expert is available to you, and they can either meet with you in-person at a nearby employment center or online. One-on-one coaching can help you:

  • Get feedback on your resume.

  • Prepare for an interview.

  • Learn how to network and where to find job leads.

You may sign-up for one-on-one coaching on employment.ChurchofJesusChrist.org, or by visiting a nearby employment center.

Tips for Online Meetings

Consider the following tips as you connect for an online meeting:

  • You will need to use a cell phone or a computer that has a camera and microphone. Test your camera and microphone before you join to minimize technical issues.

  • Typically, everyone participating can see each other, so sit in a spot where there are few distractions.

  • You will need to use a microphone to speak, so make sure you’re in a quiet place. Consider using headphones that have an attached microphone.

  • Make sure you have enough light so other participants can see your face.

  • In your job search you want to be punctual to meetings, so be sure to join the meeting on time.
